very friendly staff, the room was clean and clean every day, food is nice but as working in the area for our forth week a chef’s special on the menu would be nice as eaten every thing on the menu over again etc .out standing bar staff Elea and Asmita great personality and service was spot on thanks see you all again next week

Nice location, awful hotel

While the location was great being next to the Cathedral, for two smallish rooms it was expensive (£400 for Friday and Saturday night), the carpets throughout the common areas were threadbare; the lifts were a nightmare; the staff unfriendly (except the young man that was working in the bar on Saturday night); and breakfast was definitely underwhelming! We decided to go for the hot buffet but there were no hash browns, tomatoes or mushrooms, and no staff around keeping an eye on what was running low or to help guests. Having ended up with hot milk rather than cappuccino from the coffee machine, I gave up and just had what bits I had managed to cobble together. The next morning we cancelled the breakfast we had paid for and went somewhere that had good food and good service. Overall, very disappointing hotel.

The sign outside states it is a five star hotel - it certainly isn't; three star at best. There are several threadbare carpets and the strange lift/floor arrangements with a multiplicity of short staircases make it definitely a wheelchair unfriendly hotel. (There was a sign saying that there was ramp for wheelchairs at the rear of the building but it was locked when I attempted to use it.) Nevertheless the hotel's location must be one of the best in the city - 100 metres from the cathedral. There is a nice bar area but, as far as we could see, no restaurant.

One of the best Mercuries.

Mercury Hotel in Winchester has great location. Very close to the Cathedral and city centre. The atmosphere was welcoming. The staff at bar went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt like royalty, especially I wanted to highlight Arthur and Sophie, providing impeccable service. Tue food was tasty as well and the breakfast room facing the Cathedral is a great start if the day! I highly recommend Mercury in Winchester.

After my recent stay at the Mercury Hotel, I can confidently say it exceeded my expectations. From the warm welcome at check-in to the immaculately clean room, every aspect of the experience was exceptional. The hotel's attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction truly stood out. The amenities provided added an extra layer of comfort and convenience to my stay. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always willing to assist with any request, especially Arthur, from the bar.
